It's amazing to live in a place where, each morning, when you wake up, you always look around because there might be some wildlife to watch. Sometimes all you see are tracks, revealing just how much life is going on when you aren't watching.

|
| Mule deer, elks, jackrabbits and cottontails, wild turkeys, coyotes, in that order, are probably the most commonly seen animals. Occasionally, the raccoons, foxes, bobcats, cougars and black bears come out. You see their tracks more often than you see them, unless you are really good at it, patient or very lucky. |
We have lots of birds too, included golden and bald eagles. Spring is definitely the high season for bird watchers. However some birds, like the bald eagle, are only visible during the winter.

| The abundance and diversity in terms of wildlife and flora are what make this place so unique. |
 |
The different elevations and micro-climates allow for diversity, while the immensity of the area, which includes several large protected pieces of land (Escalante-Grand Staircase National Monument, Glenn Canyon Recreation Area, Capito Reef, Bryce Canyon, Zion and Canyonland National Parks, and more), certainly account for the abundance we are so lucky to have. Let's make sure we keep it protected.
